Mobile asset management solution utilizes Google™ Earth and Microsoft® Virtual Earth™ imagery
OuterLink Corporation, the satellite-based mobile asset management solution provider, today announced the latest version of its command and control software, OuterLink CommTrack™ 2008. OuterLink CommTrack 2008 software centralizes the command and control of one or more mobile assets across multiple locations and agencies, and can display mobile asset information in text, graphics (map) and satellite images for tracking air, ground or marine vehicles from a command and control center. Additionally, OuterLink CommTrack supports two-way communication between dispatch or command centers and vehicles in the field. OuterLink CommTrack leverages an open architecture approach to displaying data and capturing communications, and is able to be integrated with any display system application, regardless of vendor. This ability to provide a centralized view of mobile asset operations makes CommTrack™ 2008 a powerful platform for mobile asset management.
CommTrack 2008 is highlighted by the addition of satellite imagery from Google™ Earth and Microsoft® Virtual Earth™ to enable more accurate deployment and locating of mobile assets with OuterLink on board. Among the features and benefits associated with this latest version of CommTrack 2008 are the following:
- Satellite imaging map technology delivers the level of detail to configure images of highways, roads, landmarks, etc.,
- Customizable icons;
- Displays mobile assets and status on map;
- Searches, locates and centers map on any asset;
- Zooms or pans;
- Includes 3D “Birdseye” magnification of satellite photos;
- Plays back historical or live data;
- Provides “bread-crumb” trails;
- Position reports display latitude, longitude, messages, date and time, heading, speed and altitude; and
- Multiple drawing tools for temporary or permanent shapes, location identification or geofencing.
CommTrack 2008 software suite
The CommTrack 2008 software suite is comprised of CommTrack HubÔ, CommTrackÔ Virtual Earth Map, CommTextÔ Messaging & Alarms and CommSpeakÔ Voice Messaging.
CommTrack Hub
CommTrack Hub is a communication server program that establishes an Internet telnet session to the satellite ground station. CommTrack Hub coordinates and controls the message flow between CommText and CommTrack modules. Data is collected and stored in a Microsoft® Access database. Data communication is supported for single, networked or multiple users in a non-networked environment and can interface to third-party resource management and dispatch systems.
CommTrack Satellite Map
The CommTrack Satellite Map integrates satellite imagery with graphical maps to better depict the location of mobile assets and surrounding areas. Command center operators are able to pan and zoom maps and save images in to the CommTrack database.
CommText Messaging & Alarms
CommText provides detailed information about the mobile assets tracked with OuterLink on board. The program sends and receives messages with field assets and provides a real-time update of position, status, and any exceedances. Visual and audible annunciators for Mayday, Emergency Response System and optional Missed Report alarms provide additional measures of safety.
CommSpeak Voice Messaging
CommSpeak Voice Messaging records and delivers voice messages between pilot and command center staff. The OuterLink Voice Messaging System allows the pilot or crew to send voice messages over the satellite link and receive synthesized voice messages from Dispatch and Smartphone users. Smartphone users have the capability of viewing real time and historical aircraft positions as well as being able to listen and review voice messaging traffic with the aircraft.
