OUTERLINK ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF STANDALONE COCKPIT VOICE AND VIDEO RECORDER FOR ENHANCED SAFETY
Houston, TX, HELI-EXPO – February 25, 2008

Designed to meet future FAA and NTSB flight recorder requirements
OuterLink Corporation, the satellite-based mobile asset management solution provider, today announced the availability of its standalone Cockpit Voice and Video Recorder (CV2R) for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The CV2R design is based upon OuterLink’s O.V.V.R. and has been designed using the FAA Part 135 and NTSB criteria as a guide to system form, function, and survivability.
The CV²R is a unique flight safety tool that features a continuous 8-hour recording loop of five audio, one data and optional video input sources. The control head connects into the aircraft’s audio distribution system to accept up to five (5) audio inputs with an option to connect one standard NTSC or PAL format video camera input. Each unit comes with two secure keyed USB devices for downloading recorded data. An integrated Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) engine allows the system to record critical LAT/LON, ALT, GS, HDG data on in one second intervals. Housing for the CV2R is a stainless steel “crash resistant,” case that has been designed to meet section (e) of the Flight Recorder FARs.
The OuterLink CV²R integrates a 16 GB recording device along with the imbedded GPS engine into the panel mounted unit. The cockpit recorder does not require the purchase of a complete OuterLink mobile asset solution. Instead, the CV2R may be purchased for its voice, data and optional video recording capabilities independent of the integrated OuterLink solution.
In October 2007, a revised air safety measures bill was presented to the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill, H.R. 3939, is directed at improving patient and crew safety on flights providing Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Among the recommended measures is a feasibility study for cockpit data and voice recorders (CDRs/VDRs) followed by regulations requiring CDRs/VDRs on all EMS flights. The OuterLink CV2R meets all anticipated requirements for EMS aircraft cockpit voice and video recorders and is available immediately.
“The OuterLink CV2R provides an added measure of safety to non-commercial flights, some of which anticipate federal cockpit recorder requirements. Additionally, it offers flight operators a tool to conduct peer-to-peer evaluations ultimately improving pilot performance and overall flight quality,” said Andrew Joseph, CEO of OuterLink Corporation. “The CV2R is yet another example of OuterLink’s commitment to supporting the safety and compliance issues of the fixed-wing and rotorcraft aviation industry.”
