MED CENTER AIR ADDS COCKPIT VOICE AND VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES TO ITS OUTERLINK MOBILE ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Houston, TX, HELI-EXPO – February 25, 2008

Voice messaging functionality adds level of safety to air medical transport operations
OuterLink, the satellite-based mobile asset management solutions provider, today announced that Med Center Air, the aeromedical operations of Carolinas Healthcare System, Charlotte, NC will equip its helicopter equipment with the OuterLink Voice & Video Recorder (O.V.V.R.™). The O.V.V.R. is an option that extends the capabilities of the OuterLink CP-3iÔ mobile asset management platform by adding voice and video recording functionality without adding a noticeable amount of weight to the aircraft. The O.V.V.R. is designed using the FAA Part 135 and NTSB criteria as a guide to system form, function, and survivability.
“We keep ourselves continuously apprised of new technologies and proactively adopt technologies and measures that increase the safety of our aircraft and flights,” said Jason Schwebach, program director, Med Center Air. “OuterLink O.V.V.R. provides us a compact and cost effective system to provide voice messaging when the aircraft is out of normal communications range and is a great tool for Peer-to-Peer operational review. “
The O.V.V.R. integrates the OuterLink voice messaging system into a slim panel mounted controlhead that contains an eight hour, 5 channel audio and eight hour single channel video recorder. A security keyed USB stick allows for easy download of data in standard MP3 and MP4 format. Customers can elect to install a video camera either in or outside of the aircraft in standard NTSC or PAL format.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Carolinas Healthcare System with the addition of the O.V.V.R. to its OuterLink solution,” said Andrew Joseph, CEO of OuterLink. “The O.V.V.R. continues to grow in popularity among proactive operators seeking to continually increase flight safety while also staying a step ahead of industry requirements for standard equipment.”
“Med Center Air has always been a forward thinking operation with a continuous effort to improve patient care and safety,” continued Schwebach. “OuterLink is a like-minded partner that offers a fully integrated solution and outstanding support. We look forward to continuing working with OuterLink to increase Med Center Air safety.”
