OuterLink DEBUTS THE FIRST VOICE AND VIDEO RECORDER FOR ITS SATELLITE-BASED MOBILE ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Tampa. FL, Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) – September 17, 2007

Designed to meet future FAA and NTSB flight recorder standards
The OuterLink Voice and Video Recorder (O.V.V.R.) made its debut today at the Air Medical Transportation Conference in Tampa, FL. The O.V.V.R. was designed using the FAA Part 135 and NTSB criteria as a guide to system form, function, and survivability.
Voice and video recorders provide a measure of safety that enhances pilot training through its ability to replay and review training exercises and flights. Additionally, the O.V.V.R. captures images and information critical to flight reconstruction.
The O.V.V.R. is an extension of OuterLink’s satellite-based mobile asset management platform, the OuterLink CP-3i. The upgraded solution serves as a cockpit voice and video recorder that is integrated into existing OuterLink voice messaging systems delivered via the OuterLink Voice Panel (OVP). The O.V.V.R. features four audio and one video input ports. Standard memory has the capacity to store eight hours of voice and eight hours of video recordings. Additional storage capacity is available.
Housing for the O.V.V.R. is “crash resistant,” encased within a metal OVP unit. The integrated OVP and O.V.V.R. meets section (e) of the Flight Recorder FARs by mounting the device in the cockpit instrument panel and minimizing the probability of damage due to fire. Existing OuterLink customers may upgrade current OVPs to include the O.V.V.R. adding approximately ten ounces to overall aircraft weight.
In a separate press release today it was announced that Metro Aviation has placed an order for 30 O.V.V.R. kits for its fleet of aircraft.
“Development of the O.V.V.R. was guided by input from customers on how this solution can best enable their safety initiatives and with an eye towards potential regulation of the rotorcraft industry. OuterLink will continue to deliver innovative products and services that capitalize on the flexibility of the OuterLink CP-3i mobile asset management platform and OVP equipment,” said Andrew Joseph, CEO of OuterLink Corporation. “OuterLink has engineered a mobile asset management solution that provides unmatched satellite-based flight location tracking and two-way messaging services. Our technology combined with a unique service fee structure supports OuterLink’s reputation as provider of a high-end solution with the lowest overall total cost of ownership (TCO) in its class.”
